Introduction of the gallery

Introduction
Kantipur art gallery was established in the year 1995. The primary objective of the gallery is to introduce the art and culture of Nepal to the international art community. Since the gallery has devoted ample amount of time, it knows the radical potential of the Nepalese contemporary art. However, due to the lack of adequate resources and authentic art promoters, the Nepalese art scene still lacks the much deserved exposure. In order to bridge this breach Kantipur art gallery has continuously devoted its time, resources and dedication. One of its strategies is to continuously run an exhibition on monthly basis on special themes by selected artists.

In the gone 15 years it has shifted to 2 different locations within the Kathmandu valley, i.e. at Yatkha Bahal and Thamel to
the sublime and spiritual ambiance of Bouddhanath circle. And now finally the gallery rests at Saat ghumti (7 corners), Thamel, a town that never sleeps. Since we are in an effort to promote the contemporary arts through Nepalese culture and feelings, we offer paintings that comprise the “Nepaliness” in terms of subjects and themes. The landscapes, portraits, street scenes, compositions, and paintings on Buddhism series not only show the aesthetic understanding and skills of artists, at the same time it also reveals the subtle Nepalese cultures and attitude. The abstract, semi abstract, prints and realistic art works provide an authentic Nepalese perspective to the dramatic incidents of life in the expansion of time.

Kantipur art gallery graciously invites all the art lovers and artists in its exhibitions. The gallery together with its spectators desires to have an introspective journey through the art; so that we could explore the enchanting dimension of eternal creativity and find the roots of Art that creates and nurtures life. Because in unification lies the true spirit of living.
