It is our privilege to introduce to you few of the selected paintings by late Lainsingh Bangdel, who was the originator of modern art in Nepal. He is widely acclaimed not only for his paintings, but was equally respected as an art researcher and a visionary laureate.
It is true that the Nepalese contemporary art is not well exposed in the global art scenario. However, there are artists today who are extremely dedicated to transform this status of the Nepali contemporary art scene. And, there are few artists who obtain very good price for their artworks. But in the condition where the global art market and the authentic Nepali contemporary art have not accessed each other, the disadvantage goes to Nepal. And a fragment of this disadvantage also affects the art collectors as well. however, once the Nepalese art gets properly introduced, we believe it will benefit all, in terms of appreciating art and aesthetics, widening the art market and expanding the global art understanding itself.
Exhibiting late Bangdel’s selected paintings is our initial step to introduce the genuine Nepalese artworks to the global art arena. In due time, we will introduce much valued and rare art works by many legendary art icons of Nepal.
